John 12:20-36

How in the world am I supposed to be joyful, be full of thanksgiving,
live at peace with others, and still hate my life? Today’s reading brings
this question to the forefront of our conversation. Jesus is moving ever
closer to the cross, prophesying on what’s yet to come, and pauses for a
prioritization clarification. The picture here follows that of verse 24,
that His Christ’s death will make way for much fruit. In the same way,
we, as Jesus followers, sacrificially give up something of great worth for
that which is of eternal and exorbitant value: life with Christ, forever.

Instead of dwelling on all that we might “give up” to follow Christ,
today, make some time to make a list of all the ways following Christ is
simply the best decision you could make. Then pause and worship Him
for giving His life as a ransom for your life.
