Lk. 23:35-43
Luke gives us a striking parallel between Jesus and the crowd in our
reading today. We find the crowd mocking He who did nothing wrong
but speak the truth in love, telling Him to act like a savior.
Luke then turns our focus to the “other” thief, who, in a surprising plot
twist, sees Jesus for who He is. Jesus, having been mocked as a Savior
moments before, acts as one in a most magnificent moment: “today you
will be with me in paradise.”
Jesus gives love, forgiveness, and salvation to one who, as stated himself,
does not deserve it. Jesus does indeed act like the Savior they were
seeking.
What a Savior we have!
